The VH AWARD supports Asian media artists as they share their artistic experiments and promote their voices on a variety of issues by providing them with an online residency program and an opportunity to showcase their works across a variety of global platforms.
Established by Hyundai Motor Group in 2016, the VH AWARD supports the discovery and exhibition of emerging media artists who converge art with technology and engage with the context of Asia and its future.
Five shortlisted applicants will have the opportunity to produce new work, participate in an online residency program and present their pieces in exhibitions held in collaboration with esteemed platforms and institutions across the globe.
Individual artists, teams, and collectives who engage with Asia and its future will be eligible to apply.
Artists will be required to submit a proposal to produce audiovisual screen-based works that may include, but are not limited to, video art, moving images, film, motion graphics, computer animation, gaming and more.
Applications can be submitted by an individual, team or collective. Applications will be accepted from all over the world, including artists with a connection to Asia who are based outside of Asia.
In 2022, applications for the 5th VH AWARD will be reviewed by a group of international jurors. Finalists will be selected for their originality and aesthetics, compelling conception and innovation, quality of presentation and sophisticated employment of technology. Jury members include accomplished art world professionals.
The five shortlisted artists, teams or collectives will each receive a grant of $25,000 USD for the production of new artworks. In addition, through a partnership with EYEBEAM, the prominent not-for-profit art and technology centre based in New York City, the five shortlisted artists or teams will be invited to participate in an online residency program led by artists and curators of EYEBEAM before the submission of their final works.
The Grand Prix recipient will be announced during an award ceremony in May 2023. The winner will receive an additional grant of $25,000 USD, with artworks by all finalists exhibited across various platforms around the globe.
Applications close on July the 28th at 3pm GMT.
