Japanese powerhouse design studio, Nendo has come up with a very unusual redesign of the humble beer or pint glass.
Since its introduction in 1977, Sapporo Draft Beer KURO LABEL has remained dedicated to achieving the pinnacle of draft beer perfection, blending barley with a refreshing aftertaste through meticulous attention to ingredients and brewing techniques. The aim of a recent project was to create the ultimate beer glass, one that would enhance the flavor and aroma of the esteemed draft beer KURO LABEL.
Renowned for its diverse flavor profiles, from the initial sip to the middle and concluding with the final taste, KURO LABEL offers a journey of intricate flavors and delights in each serving. To amplify the richness and fragrance of the beer, a glass with three distinct mouthfeels was meticulously crafted. While featuring traditional straight sides at the front and back, the glass takes on a unique asymmetrical form with a curved dip on the left side and a bulbous extension on the right.
Commencing the drinking experience from the straight side, the beer flows down the center of the tongue, delivering a crisp and refreshing sensation as it reaches the back of the mouth. Upon rotation to the curved side, the bulbous top captures the beer’s aroma, allowing the wide rim to envelop the palate with a smooth and aromatic richness. Finally, drinking from the bulbous side provides an instant impact on the middle of the tongue, enabling precise control over the volume consumed per sip and ensuring the full appreciation of the beer’s robust flavors.
